Candida (Candida albicans) which is also known as Yeast infection is a fungus (or yeast) that commonly exists in the body. Candida does not usually cause any harm. Our body’s immune system usually keeps it in control through the work of good bacteria (probiotic) in the gut.

Some factors (yeast infection causes) can kill off the good bacteria, or encourage the growth of bad bacteria. This allows candida to grow unchecked in parts or all the body. This condition is called Candidiasis. Most people refer to it as thrush or yeast infection.

This condition can infect the mouth, vagina, skin, stomach, and urinary tract, athlete’s foot and the nail.

Vaginal yeast infection is by far the most common manifestation of candidiasis. When the environment in the vagina has acidic balance, it restricts the growth of yeast.
